IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING CYBER CRIME

We are unfortunately living in times where the prevalence of CYBER CRIME is increasing exponentially, and fraud syndicates have recently stepped up their targeting of the legal fraternity, and especially Conveyancing matters, to previously unseen levels. Large amounts of money are being moved around between parties electronically, and that obviously creates an opportunity for them. They normally gain access to information by hacking either the client, or the attorney’s email address, and, in most cases, one would not even be aware of the breach. They then typically alter banking details of one of the parties, resulting in either the Conveyancer, or one of the parties, paying funds into their own fraudulent account. For this reason, we urge you to please contact our office telephonically prior to making any payment to our nominated Trust Account, in order to verify the account details verbally as well.

Our firm makes use of a secure communication platform. With end-to-end encryption of messages and documents, it uses the same underlying security technology as some of SA’s leading banks, and this platform is used to exchange banking details between ourselves and clients. Please note that we will NEVER send you our banking details by way of email. If you do receive such a mail, purporting to be from our office, please DO NOT respond to it, and call us immediately.
